As vice president of Xiaomi’s global division, Hugo Barra oversees expansion of the Chinese technology company’s products and operations in all markets outside of Mainland China. Barra, who had been vice president of Android product management at Google, joined Xiaomi in October 2013.

During his first year at Xiaomi, Barra introduced new products and expanded the company’s smartphone market from Southeast Asia to India. “In a year or two, we will have completely shifted towards building inherently global products,” he told CNET. “Whenever we think about a new feature, we try to think about it from a Chinese perspective and a global perspective.”
