Description: Purpose of the program The Ivy Advisor’s Dr. Gavin Wittje and Dr. William Jiang have designed the following English enhancement program specifically for talented middle school students with the following overall goals: - Increasing students’ skills in English vocabulary, reading, writing, and grammar
- Preparing for ISEE or SSAT and getting an early start in PSAT/SAT tests
- Heightening students’ ability to understand and enjoy life
- Deepening students’ all-round knowledge about humanities and social sciences
- Enriching students’ educational experience overall
- Major Contents of the program
The class will consist of the following specific contents and learning objectives: - Massive vocabulary-building
- Guided classic English reading: read several major classic novels and multiple classic poems/essays
- Guided and graded writing assignments in the form of book reports and other essays
- Feedback on each writing assignment for each student
- Intensive training in grammar
- Multiple exercises and assignments related to English and to SSAT/ISEE and PSAT/SAT tests
