About Ningbo:
A major exporter of electrical products, textiles, food, and industrial tools, Ningbo also possesses a sturdy manufacturing base in garments, petrochemicals and energy. With mostly private enterprises propelling the city's economy growth, Ningbo is distinct from other large cities in China. Currently, the local government is seeking avenues of diversification; Ningbo's cartoon and animation production industry has reportedly been boosted an agreement with Walt Disney, which would establish the city as a base for animation production. Ningbo's most famed asset is its port; the largest in China and a driver of economic growth on China's east coast, Ningbo's port focuses its exports on raw materials, crude oil, and liquid natural gas. Its role as a transportation centre was solidified following the investment of over 10 billion RMB aimed at improving links with other cities. Significantly, the world's longest trans-oceanic bridge, Hangzhou Bay Bridge, has expedited travel between Shanghai and Ningbo. |
